Digital Photography Course Part 2 (Advanced)

If you have been on our Photography Course Part 1 (Beginners) or are already comfortable with using Aperture & Shutter Priority Modes as well as other settings such as ISO and White Balance, this course will take you on the next step. We look at more advanced techniques suitable for a wide range of subjects and in particular introduce the use of flash to enhance our images.

On this one day workshop you will learn about:

*  How to use manual exposure mode
*  Metering modes
*  Controlling dynamic range in images
*  Histograms
*  RAW v JPEG file formats
*  The importance of sensor size
*  Which filters you still need with digital and how to use them
*  Advanced depth of field
*  Built-in flash v flashguns
*  When and when not to use flash
*  Creative flash techniques
*  Using flash indoors and outdoors
*  Balancing flash and ambient lighting
*  ……and much more

This is not just about learning the facts, we will also show you how to use this knowledge to achieve the shots you want to take. Best of all we will share many tips and tricks for getting the best out of your camera and how to deal with awkward shooting conditions to ensure you still get a great shot.

This course will provide in depth knowledge suitable for use in all photographic genres including landscapes, sports, action, portraits, architecture, etc.

Alongside the theory, the day will also include the opportunity for you to practice what you have learnt with guidance from your tutors. You should therefore bring your camera with you to try out the techniques discussed.

With a maximum class size of just eight and two tutors there will be the opportunity for one-to-one attention during the practical sessions to ensure that you are getting the most from the day and to further explore any techniques of particular interest to you.

You will need to bring a separate flashgun to gain the most from the practical exercises. We have spare Canon flashguns that you may borrow if you are Canon user. If you are planning on buying a flashgun prior to the course you are welcome to contact us for advice on which models to consider.
