How to Use Flash Workshop (10am to 1pm)

Venue:   Sedgebrook Hall, Northants

Price:   £65 including teas/coffees

 This half day course will provide you with the knowledge, tips and techniques to make a start with using flash in your images.

Often there is not enough light to make a decent exposure or the light is not flattering in some way so we can add our own light to the image using flash. However, used incorrectly flash can easily ruin an image. In this course we teach you how to add light to a scene in the most appropriate way and also how to be creative with your flash.

Some of the topics covered are:

* Properties of light
* Built in flash v flashguns
* When and when not to use flash
* Using flash indoors and outdoors
* Balancing ambient light and flash
* Automatic flash exposure
* Manual flash exposure
* Creative flash techniques
……. and much more

The course comprises both classroom and practical sessions (the Wildcard team will model for you!) so you will need to bring your own accessory flashgun. If buying a flashgun for the purposes of the course it should have the following features:

* A tilt and turn flash head
* Automatic (TTL) flash exposure control
* Manual flash exposure control

These are the only features that you really need on a flashgun and anything else is pretty much just window dressing and marketing.

The course will run from 10am to 1pm.

If you would like to put your portrait photography skills to the test after this course, we are running a Location Portraits Workshop in the afternoon from 2pm to 5pm. If you book that session as well you will receive a free Sedgebrook Hall buffet lunch!

We recommend that you have completed our Digital Photography Course Part 1 prior to attending this flash course.

Please also check that your camera is suitable here and note our cancellation policy.

Please note that if you have previously attended our Digital Photography Course Part 2 one day course then you will have covered this course content.
