Description

On this one day workshop you will learn how to light and pose a portrait subject and hopefully go away with some portfolio quality images. The day will be held at our regular studio facility in Market Harborough on the Northamptonshire and Leicestershire border.

The first part of the day will be a short presentation looking at the properties of light, posing and directing techniques, flash equipment and more.

We will then be joined by our model where we will demonstrate a number of lighting techniques. At each stage you will be given the opportunity to take images yourself so you can remember the techniques and the different effects they offer.

We will run through a number of portrait, beauty and fashion setups.

After lunch you will be given the opportunity to design a number of setups to put into practice during the afternoon. Working as a group to decide on backdrops, lighting, costume, pose, etc., you will then have a few minutes shooting 1-2-1 with the model on each setup. The studio has some fab room sets in addition to the more usual studio backdrops so there should be plenty of inspiration available.

Please arrive between 9.30 and 9.45am for a start at 10am prompt. After the practical sessions we will have time for a Q&A and general summing up before finishing around 4.30pm.

A basic buffet lunch will be provided as will teas/coffees but please bring any other refreshments that you may require.

As there is no formal camera tuition on this workshop we would recommend completing Part 1 of our Digital Photography Course first in order to get the most out of the day. We will, of course, help with camera settings, tips and techniques to ensure you capture some great images. If you have any concerns regarding equipment or experience please contact us prior to booking.

Please check that your camera is suitable before booking:
